About world record holder Laya B Nair
In a world where records are broken every day, it's hard to believe that a new record could be set. But that's exactly what happened on January 19, 2023, when Laya B Nair (STUDENT OF SWIMMING COACH BIJU THANKAPPAN) swam 4.5 km in the Lake with tied hands in 1 hour 20 minutes.
Laya B Nair is only 11 years old, but her dedication and courage are inspiring. She has always loved swimming, but she had never considered herself an athlete before this record-setting feat. After watching videos of other swimmers breaking world records and seeing how excited they were about it, she decided to give it a try herself!
This isn't Laya B Nair's first record-breaking achievement—she was recently named the youngest person ever to have participated in a swimming competition at Kothamangalam Aquatic Park (she was 8 years old). She hopes to inspire other young people who might be interested in pursuing sports or fitness careers by showing them that anything is possible when you put your mind to it!
