His inclination towards sports was likely influenced by his father, the late Bihari Shyam Shukla, who was a football player. His mother was a homemaker. Vinod's passion for yoga continued to grow, shaping the trajectory of his life.

Vinod Shukla is married to Dr. Sona Shukla, and together they have two children: a son, Tushar Shukla, and a daughter, Aishwarya Shukla. He also has a brother, Vikas Shukla, who is employed with HDFC Bank.

In 2008, Vinod Shukla made a life-changing decision to resign from his job in a pharmaceutical company to fully dedicate himself to the practice and teaching of yoga. Since then, he has been providing free yoga classes to the community, amassing over 6,000 classes at Sanjay Van in Kanpur.
